Summer Term 2017.

Our Year 5 children took part in the Glossop Music Festival at St Luke’s Church on Thursday last week (22 June). They had the fantastic opportunity of playing alongside professional musicians from the Halle and BBC Philharmonic orchestras. The children were amazing and performed really well.

All our Year 5s had a fantastic day in Lea Green Outdoor Activity Centre near Bakewell last week. The children completed an obstacle course, improved their map skills with a course in orienteering, and worked in groups to build waterproof shelters in the woods. When it ‘rained’ (rain was provided from a bottle of water by our instructor for the day) we discovered that some of the shelters were not as waterproof as others!

Reminder - there will be a brief meeting for Year 6 parents/carers about Condover on Monday 5 June at 6pm for adults only.

Spring Term 2017.

We had a very interesting visit from Action Aid this afternoon (8 February) and learnt about Brazil and life in the favelas.

We had a bit of a shock last half term when a Viking raided the classroom, bellowing into a horn and waving a sword in the air! He was Hrothgar, and he stayed for the day, teaching and showing us all about life in Viking times. The photos show some of the things we learned about, such as Viking games, lighting fires with kindling and bellows, shields and weapons, burial rituals and Viking stories, which we even acted out. It was a fantastic day.
